La Diouana is a luxurious 30s villa with panoramic ocean views. Situated
near the old kasbah, the house is a mixture of traditional and contemporary
Moroccan design. All rooms have moucharrabieh woodwork and tadlakt (polished
plaster) floors. The villa has three en-suite bedrooms, a large kitchen,
a study/library with broadband access, a patio, a roof terrace and a sitting
room with wood-burning stove, stereo and DVD player. There is also a cottage
in the garden with kitchen/sitting room, en-suite bedroom and patio, as well
as a separate first-floor apartment with twin beds, bathroom, terrace and
sea views. The villa is surrounded by a 25,000 sq ft garden of palm trees,
pine, mimosa, oleander, bougainvillea and many other shrubs and flowers.
Just two and a half hours from Marrakech, the pace at La Diouana is slow and
unhurried. By day you can snooze in a hammock or sunbathe on the roof terrace,
gazing down at the lagoon far below you. At night-time, you can luxuriate in
a tadlakt bathtub and gaze up at the stars, the only sounds the distant crash
of waves and the rustle of wind in the pine trees.
